Saudi Arabia set to participate in Japan’s Expo 2025
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has announced that it will be a participant at Expo 2025 in Osaka, a city in Japan.
Saudi Arabia signed a participation agreement on Wednesday on the sidelines of the first International Planning Meeting for the event. Expo 2025 is an upcoming World Expo, which will be held in Osaka, Japan. It is scheduled to start on 13 April 2025 and close on 13 October 2025.
Reportedly, the six months event aims to strengthen efforts in uniting people of different cultures and interests under the global slogan: Designing Future Society for Our Lives.
The event will also look at ways to achieve SDGs (sustainable development goals) within the framework of three sub-themes: Ensuring life sustainability, improving life, and improving life through communication.

The KSA began its relationship with the Expos in 1958 when it participated in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. Since then, Saudi Arabia has actively participated in World and Specialised Expos.
The Kingdom received a Silver Award for pavilion design at Specialised Expo 2008 Zaragoza and a Gold Award at World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China.
Saudi Arabia submitted its bid to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) to host Expo 2030 last month. Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, submitted a letter to the Secretary General of the BIE, Dimitri S. Kerkentzes, to organise World Expo 2030 in Riyadh. The letter was handed to S. Kerkentzes by the CEO of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), Fahd Al Rasheed, and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to France, Fahad Al Ruwaily.
Saudi Arabia’s letter of candidature was based on the theme “The Era of Change: Leading the Planet to a Foresighted Tomorrow.” Kerkentzes reportedly said, “The BIE is pleased to receive this letter of candidature from the Kingdom.”
