It is out and (probably) it is here to stay! The new experience of virtual reality is becoming better as Facebook parent’s company Meta recently unveiled a high-end virtual reality headset. The intention is that people will soon be using it to work and play in the not-so-explored space of ‘metaverse.’

The sports high resolution sensor enabled $1500 Meta Quest Pro headset will be used by people to see mixed virtual and augmented reality in full colour. According to CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the metaverse is an immersive virtual environment, a place where people can virtually ‘enter’ rather than just staring at it on a screen. The company is investing billions in its metaverse plans that will likely take years to pay off.

With the aim of making it mainstream, the young dynamic entrepreneurial mind says that having just use VR headsets used by some gamers isn’t enough and will need more mainstream participation. As such, the eye is on getting it into office settings, home office and workers as well.

Speaking to the media, Rolf Illenberger, founder and managing director of VRdirect who builds VR environments for businesses has said, “Meta is positioning the new Meta Quest Pro headset as an alternative to using a laptop.” But he added that for businesses, operating in the virtual worlds of the metaverse is still ‘quite a stretch.’

The strange this gets stranger, as Meta also announced that its metaverse avatars will soon have legs — an important detail that’s been missing since the avatars made their debut last year.

The VR headsets would also be of great medical use, especially in treating the staggering and growing numbers of patients suffering with PDSD. Companies like VRX are using gamification into therapy to treat the disorder which is troubling thousands of returning military professionals from war zones.
