Hamas Leader Khaled Mashaal Predicts Victory in Gaza Despite Heavy Losses
Former leader of Hamas Khaled Mashaal said that the situation in Gaza is like a “holocaust” during a speech on Monday. He said the attacks on October 7 were a result of blocked political avenues and claimed they had “strategic results.” Mashaal expressed gratitude to Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iran for their support and urged Arab countries to provide financial aid to Gaza.
Mashaal also suggested that Israel having failed to meet its objectives in Gaza, had opened a new front with Hezbollah in Lebanon. He claimed Israel was working against both Jordan and Egypt. Despite setbacks, he assured the people of Gaza that victory would come soon.
Over the past year, more than 40,000 people in Gaza, including over 10,000 children, have been killed, following Hamas’ attack on October 7, where 1,200 Israelis lost their lives.
Mahmoud Al-Habash is an advisor to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. He called Mashaal’s statements “empty slogans.” Al-Habash said the real focus should be on protecting the Palestinian people. He also criticized Hamas for not seeking unity with the Palestinian Authority.
After the military actions of Israel in Gaza and Lebanon, protests are going on in different regions of the world. Demonstrators from the Middle East, Europe, the US, and Asia are calling for an end to the violence. They describe the situation in Gaza as “genocide” and are urging the international community to take action.
