The Kingdom of Morocco and the International Labour Organization (ILO) are stepping up international action to stop child labour with the next Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour, which is planned to take place in February 2026 in Marrakech. The conference and the introduction of the Red Card to Child Labour campaign come at a time when advancement has been halted and serve to bring back the pace towards ensuring the rights of children in the world. Although there is an improvement since 2000, millions of children are still languishing in unsafe and exploitative labor, and new international collaboration is needed more than ever.

Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour: A Turning Point

TheGlobal Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour, which will be hosted by Morocco in collaboration with the ILO, will unite the voices of governments, workers, employers’ organizations, civil societies, and youth. The Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour will deal with the question of why the world failed to meet the 2025 SDGs and the role of innovation and policy changes to bridge the gaps. The Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour will highlight practical solutions and partnerships with 138 million children still affected. By creating the awareness that will last until 2026 with the initiation of the campaign entitled Red Card to Child Labour during the Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour, it will guarantee the global responsibility and effort toward eradicating child labour.
