Jalen Green Leads Rockets to Game 2 Victory with 38 Point Performance

In a dominating performance, Jalen Green led the Houston Rockets to a 109-94 victory over the Golden State Warriors in Game 2 of their Western Conference first round playoff series. Green’s 38-point explosion and 8 for 18 from three point range was instrumental in tying the series at 1-1.

Houston established the tempo early, never falling behind the rest of the game and constructed a 20-point lead in the second half. Green’s hot hand was a decisive contributor to stopping any Golden State comeback efforts particularly in the third quarter. He hit three of his eight three pointers during the period, scoring 15 points and basically putting the Warriors rally to rest. The Rockets made 15 of 40 shots (37.5%) from outside the arc with over half of them triples being shot by Green.

Though Green was the hero of the match, Alperen Sengun also scored an impressive 17 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists in a dominant all around effort. Sengun’s performance made him the second youngest center in NBA history to have a playoff game with 15 points, 15 rebounds and five assists which fueling Houston’s victory even more.

On the other hand, The Warriors had a tough evening. Stephen Curry secured 20 points but had a difficult time with his shot hitting 6 of 15 from the field. The loss of Jimmy Butler III to a pelvic contusion in the first quarter also made Golden State’s night worse. Butler who was instrumental in the Warriors win in Game 1 was compelled to sit out and had an MRI exam.

In spite of the Warriors fighting spirit, the Rockets dominated all game long, outscoring their rivals in all four quarters except for the last one, when the match was already over. With the series heading to San Francisco for Game 3, Houston will seek to take advantage of this crucial victory.
