Lebanese Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati met on Friday with Caretaker Minister of Public Works and Transportation Ali Hamieh at the Grand Serail. After the meeting, Minister Hamieh shared updates on key national infrastructure, including Rafik Hariri International Airport, maritime routes between Tripoli, Beirut, and Sidon ports, and other facilities across Lebanon.

According to the National News Agency of Lebanon, Minister Hamieh stated, “The meeting with Prime Minister Mikati was part of our regular discussions to update him on the work of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, particularly regarding Rafik Hariri International Airport and the maritime crossings from Tripoli Port to Beirut Port and Sidon Port, as well as all facilities in Lebanon, including the land crossings.”

Minister Hamieh confirmed that all facilities are managed in line with Lebanese laws and under the supervision of state agencies. He also spoke about the recent airstrikes in Baalbek voicing concern for the challenges faced by Lebanese residents and displaced communities in the impacted areas.

Prime Minister Mikati emphasized that a dedicated team including members from the South Lebanon Council and other officials, will continue closely monitoring these developments to support the impacted regions.

In response to a recent parliament member’s remarks about alleged restricted access at Beirut Airport Minister Hamieh clarified that all decisions related to the airport and ports adhere to the law. He reiterated that these vital facilities belong to the Lebanese public, not any specific group or individual, and remain protected by the Lebanese state and its agencies.
