Ukraine’s President Zelensky Engages NATO and UK in Support, A Path to Peace

The UK Prime Minister welcomed Zelensky at 10 Downing St London on Thursday. Ukraine President Zelensky is meeting The UK Prime Minister and the NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to discuss his “Victory Plan” against Russia before leaving for Paris to talk with President Emmanuel Macron. Zelenskyy also mentioned that he will meet the leaders of Germany and Italy this week to discuss the plan.
He was supposed to present his plan’s blueprint at a weekend meeting of Western leaders and defence ministers in Germany but it got postponed because the U.S. President Joe Biden had to stay at home to respond to Hurricane Milton’ s landfall in Florida. He is in hope that the meeting will get rescheduled on Wednesday.
Zelensky’s Plan
The Ukraine President Volodymyr’s plan has been kept quiet by the officials but new theories have surfaced provoking swift decisions from Western allies that have been under consideration since the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022.
Zelensky, speaking at a summit in Croatia with leaders of southeastern European states on Wednesday stated that the plan aims to strengthen Ukraine “both geopolitically and on the battlefield” without any discussions with Russia.
“Weakness of any of our allies will inspire Putin (Russian President),” Zelensky added. “That’s why we’re asking them to strengthen us, in terms of security guarantees, in terms of weapons and in terms of our future after this war. In my view, he (Putin) only understands force.”
Kyiv is still waiting to hear from its Western allies regarding its repeated appeals to use the long-range weaponry that they have provided to strike targets inside Russia. Some are believed to be open to the idea but Biden has refrained from doing so due to concerns about potentially escalating the conflict.
Soon after the election of the UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in July, Zelensky made his last visit to London when he addressed a meeting of the British Cabinet.
The UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s spokesman Dave Pares said that Thursday’s meeting is going to involve “broad strategic discussions” regarding U.K and allied backing for Ukraine throughout the “critical phase,” as opposed to particular determinations.
