Egypt Travel Update: GEM Ticket Prices Rise November 1 as Winter Time Change Nears

GEM ticket prices

The budget will have to be cut immediately for tourists who will head for Giza next month. The authorities have announced that GEM ticket prices rise November 1 affecting foreign tourists, expatriates, and locals alike as a major Egypt travel update.

The decision to pass the new rate structure was approved by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to finance continued improvement of the services. The move comes as part of an effort to make the Grand Egyptian Museum a top destination in the world for the study of human achievements in Egypt, officials said.

New Rates at the Grand Egyptian Museum

Foreign adults will be charged EGP 1,830 for a general ticket (as opposed to EGP 1,570 previously) starting Sunday, November 1, 2026. The fees for foreign students and children will be increased to EGP 920.

The price hike will also be felt by Egyptians. The adult ticket will increase by 10% to EGP 220 for the Egyptians, and EGP 110 for local students/seniors. In Egypt, the costs for foreigners who are officially residing in the country will be EGP 920 per person for an adult and EGP 460 per person for students.

Authorities said the museum’s official web site, visit-gem.com, is the only place to buy official entry passes. Visitors are strongly discouraged by the government from purchasing tickets from unofficial third parties who charge higher prices for marked-up tickets.

Egypt Winter Time Change and Travel Planning

The price hike comes less than two days after the Egypt winter time change. According to the Egypt Independent, the country will officially be in a one-hour time difference starting Thursday, October 29, 2026 at midnight.

This fall change in time brings an end to daylight saving time and the country back to standard time (UTC+2). The consecutive scheduling for the international tourists means that they have to make their flight schedules as well as their budgets for the holiday quickly before the end of the month.

Ahram Online travel experts recommend that visitors who are coming to Cairo in the end of October book their museum entrance right away. Those who make their reservations prior to October 31st on the official website will be able to secure the current, lower rates.

Finally, with the GEM ticket prices rise November 1, the price adjustment is linked to the enormous size of the Giza complex in which the GEM operates. The Grand Egyptian Museum is successfully putting in place these new financial rates both at the moment of the Egypt winter time change, which would be ideal, and just in time for the high season of winter tourism. travellers are warned to check with State Information Service for any other information and updates on the national time adjustments.
