American Airlines grounds all flights in US during busy Christmas holiday season

Due to an unspecified technical glitch, American Airlines had to pause operations in the US for more than an hour, affecting thousands of passengers across the country. This happened during the busy Christmas holiday season.
The largest airline operator globally soon resumed operations. The Federal Aviation Administration has lifted the ground stop of American Airlines. But the situation made headlines across the globe and the stock market noted a depression.

The problem came on the morning of Christmas Eve. Several passengers took to social media to highlight the inconvenience they faced as a result, especially at the airport as the airline cancelled or grounded flights hours before the scheduled take-off.
Reuters reported that the shares of American Airlines dived 3.8% before the bell. The prominent airline responded to passenger complaints on different social media platforms such as X, Facebook and Bluesky.
