Kuwait’s Biometric Fingerprinting Exposes Hundreds of Forged Returnees

Biometric fingerprint checks in Kuwait found many people with deported status who managed to return by using forged documents based on Al Rai’s reporting.

Security sources at Al Rai revealed that most people breaking the rules were domestic workers and drivers. They left legally through official deportation on several occasions during the last 20 years. Despite being deported they obtained entry with created documents including operating rooms to change their fingerprints.

The authorities found people who damaged their fingertip prints because the previous fingerprint system let them enter Kuwait illegally. Some people used their situation to get new passports while previous identification checks had weak security. The new fingerprinting system has exposed all individuals who used deception to hide their identities.

Officials must send back every detected lawbreaker through biometric scanning regardless of their background and how long they stayed legally in Kuwait.

People in Kuwait did not suspect their domestic workers and drivers were frauds when they renewed their permits. Authorities both inside and outside Kuwait state that anyone who does not follow biometric fingerprinting rules will lose all types of government transactions.

Foreigners live in Kuwait as 69% of its 4.9 million people. To protect national interests the government enforces stricter rules against residents who break their terms of stay.
