Microsoft Appoints Egypt GM Mirna Arif to Lead MEA Growth Markets
Microsoft has named Mirna Arif new General Manager of Growth Markets in the Middle East and Africa (MEA). Mirna previously led Microsoft Egypt and from now on will oversee the growth of the digital economy across countries including Kenya, Nigeria, Morocco, Oman and Bahrain.
Mirna brings with her more than twenty international experience in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Notably, since 2020 she has led Egypt’s digital journey through driving cloud adoption, creating value through tech skill generation, and has built robust partnerships across the public and private sectors.
“I have witnessed how DX ( Digital Transformation) tools can positively transform lives in Egypt, and I am very enthusiastic to be able to now support other areas of MEA in their DX journey,” says Mirna Arif.
In her new role, she will be focusing on cloud adoption, AI driven solutions, and partnerships for economic and economic service growth. Her work will focus on instigating innovation and growth by creating partnerships for upskilling youth, creating productivity gains, and forming collaborations using local governmental and private sector companies in the region. Microsoft believes, given its youthful and digitally diverse population as well as its national digital strategy, that Egypt will remain a primary base and Microsoft’s hub for the region. A new country head for Egypt will be appointed soon. This leadership change is part of Microsoft’s overall strategy for fostering innovation in fast-growing areas. By putting local leaders like Mirna in prominent positions, Microsoft is intending to accelerate inclusive and secure digital transformation for everyone.In announcing this change, Microsoft is reiterating its commitment to building digital economies in one of the most rapidly changing markets (MEA).
