Is Egypt’s ETA Mobile App Set to Transform Real Estate Transaction Tax Payments?
Egypt is moving towards digital transformation of taxing faster as it introduces ETA mobile application to pay real estate transaction tax, a step towards making it easier to pay taxes and also enhance services to taxpayers. The app was launched by the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) and allows paying the tax on real estate transactions electronically and getting access to tax clearance certificates immediately. This project fits in the overall plan of the Ministry of Finance to modernise the administration of taxes increase the level of transparency and strengthen the relationship between taxpayers and the authorities. The ETA mobile application of real estate transaction tax shall facilitate compliance and help in the dynamic investment climate in Egypt.
Digital Tax Shift and Investor Confidence
Rasha Abdel Aal, the ETA Chairperson in charge of the real estate transaction tax, argued that ETA mobile application in taxing real estate deals indicates the authority to increase digitalization and decrease the load on procedures. The ETA real estate transaction tax mobile application is faster to process and reduces paperwork and promotes voluntary compliance. As Abdel Aal pointed to, the ETA mobile app of real estate transaction tax is part of larger reforms, such as tax facilitation packages, accelerated VAT refunds, and incentives on compliant taxpayers. Through technology, the ETA mobile application in real estate transaction tax is also useful in facilitating the incorporation of the informal economy and enhances collaboration with the private sector.
