Billionaire Peter Thiel wants to be frozen after death for future revival

The co-founder of PayPal, Founders Fund, and Palantir Technologies, Peter Thiel, recently confirmed on a podcast that he has signed up to be cryogenically frozen after his death so that he can be potentially brought back to life in the future.

Nevertheless, the technology investor expressed uncertainty over the feasibility of cryogenic preservation and the eventual future revival of his body. He doesn’t necessarily expect the procedure to work, but said it’s the kind of thing humans are supposed to try to do.

But Thiel denied that he has also signed up his loved ones for cryogenic preservation in the podcast from last week with journalist Bari Weiss. Although he isn’t convinced the procedure works, he highlighted the “need to be trying these things. It’s not there yet.”

With a total net worth of $10 billion, the venture capitalist currently ranks 275th on Bloomberg Billionaires Index. He co-founded PayPal in 1998 with Tesla and SpaceX CEO and currently the second richest person in the world, Elon Musk.

Thiel was a major backer of former US President Donald Trump during the 2016 polls, donating $1.3 million to support the businessman-turned-politician. But last month, he confirmed he doesn’t plan to donate to candidates running for the upcoming elections, Bloomberg reported.
