The Dead Sea Ultra Marathon hosted by Jordan is a top sporting competition that draws competitors globally to Jordan’s legendary landscapes. It will take place on April 11, 2025 is the 29th edition of the marathon underscores its longevity and popularity in the region.
Race Categories and Course Information
50 KM Ultra Marathon: This long distance race starts close to the Amman Tourism Public Beach and takes a largely downhill path towards the Dead Sea offering the perfect chance for runners seeking personal bests.
21 KM Half Marathon: Beginning close to the historic Baptism Site along the Jordan River, this race takes participants on a picturesque tour along the Jordan Rift Valley and finishes at the Dead Sea’s hotel waterfront zone.
10 KM Race: Created for runners who want shorter distances, this race also ends at the Dead Sea’s hotel waterfront so that participants can take in the unusual atmosphere.
Weather Conditions in April:
April brings warm weather to the region of the Dead Sea with day time temperatures from 25 degree celsius to 32 degree celsius and night time temperatures between 15 degree celsius and 20 degree celsius. Raining is light during these months, providing mostly dry conditions for the race.
Operating at around 423 meters below sea level, the participants get to enjoy special environmental conditions such as increased atmospheric pressure and oxygen. The course has mostly flat ground with parts running along the Dead Sea shoreline, presenting spectacular views of the surrounding desert.
Aside from the physical test, the Dead Sea Ultra Marathon has a humanitarian mission. Funds from the event go towards healthy living and medical support to unprivileged groups in Jordan.
