egypt allocates $59m to speed up state funded medical treatment

The Egyptian government has added $59 million worth of state-borne medical care from March until June 2025 through its new social protection scheme. As the leader of Egypt’s health sector, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar directs efforts to establish nationwide treatment for urgent medical cases.

Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk and Deputy Prime Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar collaborate to provide medical care on time to vulnerable citizens who need it most. For immediate health treatment, the state treasury provided the first EGP 1 billion to treat 60,000 patients without insurance. The government will use new funds to raise the total state treatment budget from EGP 1 billion to EGP 3 billion.

The initiative provides medical services that include cancer surgeries with orthopedic and neurological operations, plus catheterizations of the brain and heart. Additionally, patients can benefit from procedures like kidney and liver transplants as well as cochlear implants. The authorities will fast-track health procedures throughout Ramadan and April around Eid al-Fitr to make sure patients receive quality care fast.

The press release from the Health and Finance Ministries shows Egypt handles 2.355 million patients for medical care through all treatment departments each year. The increased budget supports medical teams to deliver prompt treatment services to all patients in urgent need of medical care.

The government proves its support for health access improvement across society with this program. With this plan Egypt aims to give quality healthcare to more patients in a shorter period.
