Egypt’s High-Speed Electric Train Line 1: Powering a New Era of Smart Transportation
The introduction of the first high-speed electric train line in Egypt is a bold step to smart transportation, the flagship of the country in terms of mobility and logistics. This route of high-speed electric trains will link the Red Sea and the Mediterranean and fortify economic integration and sustainable development. The high-speed electric train is the mainstay of the modern rail vision in Egypt, making it more comfortable for its passengers, shorter in its trip, and less carbon-emitting to the environment. The high-speed electric train provides strategic connectivity to countries by connecting industrial centers, urban centers, and even new cities. The project can also make Egypt a regional pioneer in sophisticated rail infrastructure that uses clean energy solutions.
Line 1 Route, Capacity, and Smart Integration
The high-speed electric train covers a distance of 660 kilometers from Ain Sokhna to Cairo, Alexandria, and Marsa Matrouh. The line has 21 stations, comprising high-speed services and regional services. It has 15 sets of high-speed electric trains, 34 regional trains, and 14 freight locomotives, and aims to carry one million passengers per day. Smooth interconnection with LRT, monorail services, as well as standard rail provides effective multimodal transportation. Maintenance facilities in October Gardens,Borg El Arab, and the New Capital ensure constant reliability in operations.
