Egypt Hosts Korea Culture Week Featuring K-Pop and Heritage Arts
The Korean Cultural Centre in Egypt is preparing to initiate Korea Culture Week 2025, starting July 11, showcasing a colorful portrayal of both traditional and modern Korean culture. The theme of Korea Culture Week 2025 is titled “Exploring Han Vibes: From Hanbok to K-Pop.”This year, we want to reinterpret Korean heritage for modern audiences and create cultural bridges with Egyptian fans. The weeklong festival will begin with Sangjaru, a Korean folk fusion band, on Friday at 7:00 PM, performing at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation (NMEC). Sangjaru is well known for blending traditional Korean folk music with gypsy swing, funk and rock. Hanbok Exhibitions and Cultural Workshops Korea Culture Week will run from July 11 until the 17 and feature exhibitions on hanbok, a traditional Korean clothing, as well as workshops where participants will be able to create hanbok accessories. There will also be exhibits on Korean musical instruments, including string, wind as well and percussion instruments, with interactive components where visitors can engage with the instruments.
K-Comics World Exhibition, and Hellbound
In addition to these exciting events, the K-Comics World Exhibition will also be launching at the Centre in July. This exhibition includes the Hellbound webtoon by Choi Gyu-seok and Yeon Sang-ho that has been turned into an incredible series aired on Netflix. Egypt will be the first stop on an eventual global exhibition tour with plans to also visit Canada, China, Hungary, and Japan. K-Pop Competition Final on July 17
To conclude this week-long celebration, the Egyptian Preliminary Round of the K-Pop World Festival will be held on July 17. Featuring performances by talented young Egyptians, KBS and the Korean government are hosting the event, with all the details of the finals in Changwon, South Korea, still to come.
