The Egyptian administration wants to collaborate more closely with the UN to restore stability and peace to Syria and put an end to all foreign meddling and terrorism.

According to Abu Zeid recently, the minister reaffirmed Egypt’s complete support for the UN envoy’s efforts to find a comprehensive political settlement in accordance with Security Council Resolution No. 2254. Pedersen and Shoukry previously spoke in Cairo in March 2023.
There is “continuous coordination between Egypt and the UN for advancing the political solution in Syria and alleviating the suffering of the Syrian brotherly people,” a spokesperson for Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a message shared on Twitter.

He also gave the UN representative an update on the assistance and support given to Syria in the wake of the terrible earthquakes that struck the nation and its neighbor Turkey in February.
During Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad’s visit to Cairo earlier this month, Cairo and Damascus agreed to expand their cooperation and communication.
Following the earthquakes, Shoukry traveled to Syria in February to send a message of support from Cairo. Since the start of the civil war in 2011, it was the first time an Egyptian foreign minister had visited Syria.
Shoukry declared at the time that his visit to Damascus was solely humanitarian in nature.
