fajr prayer time (1)

Muslims across the Arab world on Friday, September 2025, will rise early for the Fajr (dawn) prayer, which is considered the first of the five daily prayers. It is performed just before sunrise, which marks the beginning of the day both spiritually and physically. Although the exact time differs by geography and calculation method, the approximate timings for key cities in Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia are as follows:

Fajr makes its appearance in Amman, Jordan at around 4.44 AM, allowing worshippers to begin their Friday with early devotion. The call to Fajr comes later in Cairo, Egypt, close to 5.05 AM, reflecting its position further east along the Nile Valley. The time is slightly earlier in Damascus, Syria, than in Cairo at about 4:44-4:46 AM, with minor differences depending on local timetables.

On moving westward, the dawn is noticeably later. Fajr begins around 5:41 AM in Marrakech, Morocco, which is among the latest in the region due to longitude and time-zone differences. The prayer time in Algiers, Algeria, is recorded at approximately 4:53-4:54 AM, placing it between the earlier eastern cities and the more westerly Morocco. Finally, in Tunis, Tunisia, Fajr is among the earliest in North Africa, which begins near 4:17 AM.

These time zones illustrate how geography influences the daily rhythm of Islamic worship. Although Tunis and Marrakech are both in North Africa, the variation between Tunis and Marrakech exceeds an hour. The spiritual purpose remains unified in spite of these differences. Before dawn, Muslims remember God, seek blessings, and prepare for the day ahead.

There is greater significance of Fajr on Friday. While Jumu’ah (Friday prayer) commences at midday, starting the day with Fajr aligns believers with the rhythm of worship, reflection, and community.
