Iran Defeats Egypt in FIVB U19 Volleyball Championship

Iran achieved a significant result against Egypt at the FIVB U19 Boys’ Volleyball World Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Using a volley of attack, Mohammadamin Rahimi led the Iranian attack, scoring 11 points, while Egypt’s Ahmed Amer was on his heels, compiling 12 points.

The Pool C match for Iran was a competition where they played previous matches against Poland, Tunisia and one loss to Spain. Iran’s next match will be against Italy on Tuesday.

The championship will run from July 24 to August 3 and is hosted by Uzbekistan with the support of the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment program that provides this tournament with just over one year of coaching services, event equipment, and knowledge share services in connection to volleyball development within the region.

The event has 24 teams all over the world divided into a four pool round robin format. The top four teams from each pool will go into the knock out stage, with all teams playing until the end due to the three remaining rounds of play ranking teams from first to twenty-four.

This event marked a historic opportunity for volleyball in Uzbekistan and hosts have procured significant support from the Empowerment program with the aim of helping Uzbekistan develop and cultivate new athletes, facilities and their international presence. Iran’s impressive showing, along with the success of the tournament, demonstrates the growing interest worldwide in youth volleyball, as well as the FIVB’s ongoing commitment to developing the sport.
