“Israel to resume Gaza truce talks on August 15”, Israel PMO: Report…
The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu’s office (PMO) had released a statement after agreeing to resume the Gaza Truce Talks next week on 15th August, 2024. This has resulted after the former agreed at the demand of US, Qatari and Egyptian diplomats intrusion into the matter.
“Following the proposal of the United States and mediators, Israel will on August 15 send a delegation of negotiators to the agreed place to conclude the details of implementing a deal”, the office said in a statement.
Qatari, Egyptian and US mediators released a joint statement earlier calling both Israel and Hamas to stop the bloodbath in the Gaza Strip and to restart talks on August 15 to close all remaining gaps in the proposed deal and start implementing it right away.
The joint statement stated, “We have worked for months to reach a framework agreement, and now it is on the table with details of the implementation missing. There is no further time to waste nor excuses from any party for further delay. It is time to release the hostages, begin the ceasefire and implement the agreement.”
The truce is to be held either in Doha or Cairo next week, according to sources. But there is yet to be a response gathered from Hamas, the Palestinian faction that governs the Gaza Strip.

According to a source it’s most probable that there would be no agreement signed between the two parties, the reason being cited as Israel’s recent assassination of Hamas Political Chief Ismail Haniyeh that led to his death along with his son and grandchildren. The attack took place resulting in the killing of his two bodyguards while he was attending the swearing in ceremony of Iran’s new president.
Iran and Israel are foes for generations and now the death of the Hamas leader has added salt into the wounds of its ally Iran and they are gearing up for a more deadly battle up ahead.
The American official also mentioned that the joint statement was not designed to influence Iran but any escalation can result in jeopardising the upcoming truce which is very delicate at the moment.
Iran’s mission to the UN clarified earlier that it was pursuing the two priorities simultaneously. The UN stated, “First, establishing a durable ceasefire in Gaza and the withdrawal of the occupiers from this territory, as well as punishing the aggressor for the July 31 assassination of former Hamas Political Chief, Ismail Haniyeh in Iran”.
On Thursday, Israeli airstrikes again killed 40 civilians and injured 30 individuals in the Gaza Strip in the Al Bureij camp and Al Nuseirat camp according to medics.
