Israel Wants to Resettle People of Gaza in Other Countries
With Europe and the US already challenged with millions of asylum seekers and illegal migrants, Israel wants them to promote the voluntary resettlement of Palestinians in Gaza, for humanitarian reasons, outside of the Strip.
The Israeli Intelligence Minister Gila Gamliel believes that after the war, the world should promote the resettlement of Palestinians. “Instead of funneling money to rebuild Gaza or the failed UNRWA, the international community can assist in the costs of resettlement, helping the people of Gaza build new lives in their new host countries.”
She highlighted that Gaza has long been “thought of as a problem” without an answer. “We must try something new, and we call on the international community to help make it a reality.”
World With Israel
Gamliel claims that some world leaders are already discussing a worldwide refugee resettlement scheme and saying they would welcome Gazans to their countries. She said this could be supported by any nations around the world, especially those that claim to be friends of the Palestinians. “This is an opportunity for those who say they support the Palestinian people to show these are not just empty words.”
Since Israel’s hit back on Hamas’ October 7 attack, there have been speculations that the Israeli government wants to do away with Gaza for good. An October 31 document published in an Israeli news media highlighted the Intelligence Ministry’s wartime proposal to transfer the Gaza Strip’s 2.3 million people to Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
Egypt described this as an attempt to liquidate the Palestinian cause. Sameh Shoukry, Egypt’s Foreign Minister, said he has not spoken to Israel or any party that may raise this ridiculous proposal. He said displacement violates the international humanitarian law.

US Rejects Displacement in Gaza
Israel’s biggest ally, the United States is not with forcibly displacing millions of people of Gaza. Earlier this month, top diplomat Antony Blinken warned that Israel cannot reoccupy Gaza after the war with Hamas ends. He said there should be no forced displacement, blockade or reduction of territory, and that the West Bank-based Palestinian Authority should govern.
The Kingdom of Jordan also sounded a warning to Israel, with its foreign minister Ayman Safadi saying they will do whatever it takes to stop the displacement of Palestinians. “We will never allow that to happen, in addition to it being a war crime, it would be a direct threat to our national security, We’ll do whatever it takes to stop it.”
Bisher Khasawneh, the Jordanian Prime Minister, said any attempt to displace Palestinians from Gaza or the West Bank would be a red line, and Jordan will consider it a declaration of war. “There will be no displacement, no new Nakba, God willing, no resettlement, and no alternative homeland.”
