Kuwait reiterates support for a ceasefire and peaceful solution in Ukraine
Kuwait has reiterated its support for international ceasefire efforts and providing a peaceful solution in Ukraine amid the recent war escalation.
Kuwait’s Foreign Minister, Sheikh Salem Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and Ukrainian Ambassador to Kuwait, Oleksandr Balanutsa, held a meeting to talk about the Ukrainian crisis. An official statement was issued after a meeting. The two leaders discussed the latest developments in the Russia-Ukraine war.
During the meeting, Sheikh Salem reaffirmed Kuwait’s stance towards the Russia-Ukraine war, calling for compliance with the principles of international law and the United Nations (UN) Charter, as well as underlining the principles of states’ sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity.
According to the Kuwait News Agency, Kuwait’s Foreign Minister reiterated his country’s support for international efforts to achieve ceasefire and de-escalation to provide grounds for a peaceful solution to the Russia-Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Ambassador to Kuwait praised Kuwait’s humanitarian support for Ukraine in order to alleviate the suffering of people affected by the conflict. He lauded Kuwait’s stance with the Ukrainian people.
Recently, NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, also lauded Kuwait’s role in maintaining security, peace and stability in the region.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian president’s advisor Oleksiy Arestovych resigned after he suggested that the Russian missile that struck an apartment in Dnipro, killing more than 40 civilians, was shot down by Ukraine. He reportedly said that he made a “fundamental error.”
After his remarks, the Ukrainian Air Force said that the apartment building was hit by a Russian Kh-22 missile and Ukraine did not have the equipment to shoot down the missile. Dnipro Mayor Filatov also urged that Ukrainian intelligence discredit Arestovych’s claim about the recent Dnipro disaster.
Recently, the United Nations (UN) confirmed the deaths of more than 7,000 Ukrainian civilians due to the Russia-Ukraine war since February 2022.
