Latest Russian General Killed In Missile Strike During Ukraine War
According to pro-Russian military bloggers, a missile strike has killed a senior Russian general commanding troops in southern Ukraine.

The 35th Combined Arms Army’s chief of staff, Major General Sergei Goryachev, is thought to have been killed on June 12 during fierce fighting near the “Vremivka Ledge” region in southern Donetsk, where Ukraine has liberated four villages in their counter-offensive.
Goryachev previously served in Transnistria, the self-declared militarized region of Moldova, and Tajikistan. He is at least the fifth senior Russian general to die in Ukraine.
In recent days, Ukraine has launched a counteroffensive with the goal of retaking territory from Russian forces.
Major General Sergei Goryachev’s biography
On October 22, 1970, Sergei Goryachev was born in Ozherelye, Moscow Oblast, Soviet Union. Russian career soldier Goryachev attended the Ryazan Guards Higher Airborne Command School and earned his degree in 1994. In the combined arms army of the Western Military District, he advanced through the ranks while serving in a reconnaissance company, and by 2011, he was the deputy commander of a distinct motorised rifle brigade.
He was appointed commander of the Russian 201st Military Base in Tajikistan in 2018 after being promoted to head of the operational group of Russian troops in Transnistria in March 2013.
He was promoted to Major General and assumed command of the 5th Separate Tank Brigade with the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion last year.
