Morocco Will be Hosting U17 Africa Cup of Nations in 2025 and 2026
This is an important achievement in Morocco’s sporting calendar as the country has been chosen to host the U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the next two years. It was revealed on 16th December during the CAF Executive Committee in Marrakech, showing the rising influence of Moroccan football in Africa.
The first tournament is scheduled to take place from March 30 – April 19, 2025, in order to prove Morocco’s readiness to host major international sports competitions. This selection follows the country’s hosting of the U20 African Nations Championship in 2021 and Morocco will co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and portugal.
Morocco U17 and U20 national teams are already have qualification to the championship but the latter won the UNAF Tournament in Egypt, with U17 becoming a runner up in the UNAF U17 Tournament which happened to take place in Morocco late 2023.
