Qatar commemorates 2022’s World Cup with banknotes

The FIFA World Cup, which will begin in the Gulf nation later this month, has commemorative coins and banknotes that were released on Wednesday by Qatar’s Central Bank.
The Central Bank Governor, Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed, said during a ceremony commemorating the issuance that “the business of commemorative coins constitutes a significant contribution from the banking sector to the success of the historic event.”
The coin features an image of Lusail Stadium on one side and Al Bayt Stadium on the other, together with the World Cup trophy and the Qatar 2022 logo. The first and last World Cup games will be played in the two stadiums.
The Zubara fort, a dhow, the Qatar National emblem, and a skyline can also be seen on the banknote’s backdrop.

According to bin Mohammed, “The commemorative banknotes reflect the Qatari culture and cultural legacy.”
Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, as well as a number of Qatari officials and international ambassadors to Doha were present at the ceremony on Wednesday.
From November 20 through December 18, Qatar will host the World Cup, making history as the first Arab and Middle Eastern nation to do so.
