Saudis cancel trip leading to Japan calling off business forum
The Saudi delegation’s decision to cancel its travel forced the cancellation of a business roundtable between Japanese and Saudi government and industry executives that was scheduled to take place in Tokyo on Monday.
A JETRO representative stated on Friday that the delegation that had been anticipated to attend the forum included the Saudi Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih.
According to JETRO, a different Saudi-Japan reception organized by Arab News and scheduled for Sunday has also been canceled.

According to Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno, “no decision has been made about a visit to Japan from Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed (bin Salman).”
“Given that Saudi Arabia is an important strategic partner, the connection between the two countries is essential. In the near future, it is crucial that Japan and Saudi Arabia host high-level visits” Matsuno said.
According to official media, Prince Mohammed has since landed in Thailand on a state visit. In Bangkok, Thailand, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit began on Friday.
