The Weekend donates $2 million for humanitarian aid in Gaza

Canadian singer The Weeknd, also known as Abel Tesfaye, has once again demonstrated his commitment to the fight against hunger by pledging a further $2 million to support families in Gaza. The donation, made through his XO Humanitarian Fund, will be channelled to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), an organisation whose mission is to provide food aid to vulnerable populations around the world.
The $2 million contribution from The Weeknd’s XO Humanitarian Fund will enable the WFP to provide more than 1,500 tonnes of enriched wheat flour, enough to produce more than 18 million loaves of bread. This substantial amount of food will feed more than 157,000 Palestinians for an entire month. The WFP expressed its gratitude for this generous support, underlining the significant impact it will have on the fight against hunger in Gaza.
This latest donation follows The Weeknd’s $2.5 million contribution to WFP in December 2021 through the XO Humanitarian Fund, established in collaboration with the World Food Program USA. The previous donation was equivalent to providing four million emergency meals and funding 820 tonnes of food parcels, capable of feeding more than 173,000 Palestinians for a fortnight.
