Turkey and Italy Forge $40B Trade Partnership Following Diplomatic Talks

Erdogan, Turkish President, alongside Italian PM Meloni, announced $40 billion as their shared target for bilateral trade during their fourth Intergovernmental Summit, which took place in Rome on Tuesday.

The meeting at a high level worked to enhance multidimensional connections between various sectors as leaders from both sides elevated economic and defense relations among NATO allies.

Erdogan expressed during the joint press conference that Turkey will actively develop new cooperation initiatives alongside Italy.

The nations agreed to join forces to maintain stability in conflict areas, especially focusing on Libya as their primary area of shared interest. Erdogan emphasized that Turkey would implement sustained remedies with Italy for developing a stable and prosperous Libya.

Turkish President concentrated on multiple essential matters in his statements during the meeting:

  1. The leader demanded that Gaza gunmen stop fighting while questioning the reason for banning humanitarian aid for two consecutive months.
  2. Turkey has placed priority on working toward Syrian reconstruction efforts while protecting Syrian national borders.
  3. The leader thanked Italy because it promoted Turkey’s application for EU membership.

The Italian Prime Minister Meloni declared through public statement that bilateral relations remained robust as the nations pursued additional ways to increase cooperation.

The summit organized a business forum that merged entrepreneurs with investment targets to develop stronger economic ties between both Mediterranean countries.
