Egypt, Turkiye to re-appoint ambassadors soon

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stated on Monday that Egypt and Turkey may mutually re-appoint ambassadors and restore full diplomatic relations “in coming months.”

As part of a normalization process, Ankara and Cairo may “soon” resume diplomatic consultations presided over by deputy foreign ministers, Cavusoglu told reporters in Ankara.

After years of tension, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan shook hands this month in Qatar, marking what the Egyptian presidency called a fresh beginning for their bilateral relations.
