Four Turkish troops injured in attacks in Syria

Four Turkish soldiers were injured in artillery and rocket attacks by Kurdish militants on bases in northern Syria on Sunday, according to Turkey’s defence ministry.
The ministry said that the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia carried out the attacks on military bases in Syria. Four Turkish soldiers were sent to the hospital to get treatment. The defence ministry reportedly said in a statement, “Ample response is given to the terrorists with strong attacks on targets.”
On Sunday, the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, reportedly said that “we could never be safe while there is an armed terrorist organisation” in the north of Syria and Iraq.
While giving a speech in Sanliurfa, a city in southeastern Turkey and the capital of Şanlıurfa Province, the Turkish President said, “Hopefully in the upcoming term we will increasingly continue our efforts in this direction.” He referred to attacks in Syria.

Meanwhile, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that Daesh group fighters killed at least 36 people in Syria. The war monitor also said that the terrorist group also attacked a group of shepherds in Deir Ezzor, the largest city in eastern Syria.
The official Syrian news agency SANA said that the group opened fire on the animals. The Daesh group reportedly killed 250 sheep. Reportedly, the decomposed bodies of two civilians were also recovered in Deir Ezzor.
Since February 2023, over 240 people have been killed in Daesh attacks in Syria, according to the Observatory. In February, the Daesh fighters opened fire on truffle hunters, killing at least 68 people.
Last month, the United States military carried out multiple air strikes against Iran-aligned groups in eastern Syria. The Pentagon said in a statement that the attack was in retaliation to attacks carried out against a US-led coalition base by the coalition forces in Syria affiliated with the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps).
