Israeli airstrikes injured 24 people in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, despite a ceasefire that has been in place for over six weeks, according to Lebanon’s health ministry.

The first strike hit Nabatiyeh Al-Fawqa, wounding 20 people, an increase from the earlier reported 14 injuries. A second strike in Zawtar injured four more people, the ministry said.

Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported that around 7:30 PM, an Israeli drone launched a guided missile at a small vegetable truck in Nabatiyeh Al-Fawqa, a town about 10 kilometers (7 miles) from the Israeli border. A second strike followed less than two kilometers (a little over a mile) away on the Zawtar-Nabatiyeh road.

Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati condemned the attacks, calling them a violation of Lebanese sovereignty and a breach of the ceasefire agreement. He said he had contacted US Major General Jasper Jeffers, head of the ceasefire monitoring committee, urging action to ensure Israel complies with international law.

Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee confirmed the strikes, stating they targeted Hezbollah vehicles transporting weapons in southern Lebanon. He said Israeli forces remain committed to existing agreements but will act against any perceived threats.

Under the November 27 ceasefire agreement, Hezbollah is required to withdraw north of the Litani River and dismantle military positions in southern Lebanon.
