Palestinians Reject Trump’s Proposal for US Control Over Gaza

Donald Trump has stated that the United States would occupy the evacuated region and that Palestinians residing in war torn Gaza might be relocated. Residents of the war torn enclave along with both American allies and opponents have condemned the proposal.

During a press conference with the Israeli Prime Minister, the U.S. President made remarks that the US will take over Gaza after Palestinians are settled somewhere. Netanyahu seemed to embrace the concept and smiled at Trump’s remarks.

But Palestinians are strongly opposed to the suggestion. One of the residents stated,  “Trump’s remarks are illogical. We have lived through war for a year and four months, and then he comes and says we should leave our land. This is our land and the land of our ancestors. It is difficult to leave it or for him to bring other people to populate it. That will not happen and we will not leave our land or our country.”

Trump’s comments coincide with Israel and Hamas having a delicate ceasefire. Gazans, many of whom were displaced by the conflict are adamant about remaining in the enclave after suffering through more than a year of war.

One more stated on X, “for a year and a half, we have been slaughtered, bombed and destroyed, only to leave just like that? We will not leave this land. They are the ones who must leave, not us.”

The idea of relocating almost two million Palestinians from Gaza to other parts of the area has previously been rejected by nations like Egypt and Jordan.
