Kuwait Joins SCO Media Summit in China to Strengthen Regional Cooperation

Kuwait actively participates in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) media and think tank summit in Zhengzhou City in China, where the event kicked off on Friday, the 19th of this month. This major occasion is an indicator of an increasing participation of Kuwait in the area of media cooperation within the region and international collaboration. Kuwait was also present at the SCO Media Summit, and present was the Acting Director-General of KUNA, Mohammad Al-Mannai, and also present was the Kuwaiti Ambassador to China, Jassem Al-Najem

The Kuwait delegation equally included acting Editor-in-Chief of KUNA Mohammad Al-Bahar and Head of Marketing and Public Relations Lamia Al-Farsi, which underlines the intentions of the country to reinforce the media relations within the SCO. The summit united more than 400 representatives and officials of about 200 media outlets and think tanks in the SCO member countries. The increasing significance of media cooperation in the development of understanding and cooperation among member nations is also emphasized at this gathering.

SCO Media Summit Focuses on International Cooperation

President Fu Hua of Xinhua News Agency pointed to the establishment of the central objective of the SCO Media Summit, which was to enhance the potential of the media in fostering trust and cultural deference among the members of the organization. He has emphasized on the contribution that the organization has made to the security, stability, and prosperity of the region in the last 24 years.

Topics discussed in the SCO Media Summit were how to advance international media collaboration and global culture governance. According to an old Secretary-General of SCO, Zhang Ming, security cooperation of the organization is not limited to classical spheres but involves energy, environmental, food, and information security.

The fact that China is also part of the Belt and Road Initiative was also highlighted in the SCO Media Summit, and it was hoped that the summit would provide a fair media atmosphere that would enable member states to better usher in closer relationships.

This media summit by the SCO will be regarded as a grooming approach to the forthcoming leaders’ summit, which will be held in Tianjin city, between August 31 and September 1. The involvement of Kuwait in the SCO Media Summit proves that the country adheres to cooperation at the regional level as well as international media cooperation.

The event is one of the significant steps forward to improving the relationship between Kuwait and member states of the SCO with the help of the media and cultural exchange programs.
