Prolific South Korean footballer Son Heung-min has taken a difficult decision to exit Tottenham Hotspur after 10 years at the club. He is going to leave this summer, as announced during Spurs’ pre-season tour of Asia.

Heung-min sat beside Tottenham manager Thomas Frank at a press conference in Seoul, announcing the “most difficult decision I have made in my career. Such amazing memories. It’s so hard to make the decision.”

“I need a little bit of change – 10 years is a long time. I came to north London as a kid, 23 years old, such a young age,” the 33-year-old footballer noted at the press conference held in the South Korean capital, Seoul.

Heung-min has been at Spurs since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2015, going on to score 173 terrific goals in more than 450 appearances in all competitions. Last season, he registered 7 goals in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min has made the decision to leave the club after a decade despite being under contract till next year. He is going to finish his spell at Spurs as the fourth-highest goal scorer for the club.

The South Korean footballer led his team to the UEFA Europa League trophy in 2025. During the campaign, Heung-min played 10 games and scored three goals and provided a solitary assist, helping Tottenham clinch their first title since the League Cup under Juande Ramos in 2008.
