Iran has sentenced to death and hanged Hossein Pedaran Execution, a man who was accused of working as an Israeli spy. The hanging was confirmed by Iran’s state media and judicial sources on September 19, 2026, in a time of rising tensions between Iran and Israel as well as increasing executions related to espionage and security charges in Iran.
According to Iranian judicial authorities, Pedaran was accused of espionage for Mossad, Israel’s intelligence organization. According to Reuters, the execution sentence was endorsed by Iran’s Supreme Court before being carried out.
Who was Hossein Pedaran?
According to Iran’s Mizan news agency, Hossein Pedaran was alleged to have supplied classified information concerning sensitive military facilities in Isfahan province of Iran to Mossad.
His detention is attributed to Iranian authorities on espionage charges related to the 12-day conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States in June 2025. Authorities say some of the military bases from which he allegedly transferred intelligence were hit during the conflict.
Independent reports in the public domain neither substantiate how Pedaran accessed the information nor offer independent corroboration of any links between alleged transfers and attacks carried out.
What Information Was Tehran Claiming Pedaran Provided?
According to the Iranian judiciary, Pedaran provided information about military and missile bases located in Isfahan province to Mossad.
Iran’s Mizan News agency has published a detailed report about Pedaran’s purported confession. In the report, he is accused of communicating with Mossad, transferring intelligence about military and personal staff, using multiple SIM cards and encrypted messaging, and receiving money for it. The judiciary said it also found a notebook with confidential information regarding missiles and a camera device at Pedaran’s home.
Moreover, Iranian officials also claimed that Pedaran provided information that had helped in attacks in which military personnel were killed and wounded.
Nevertheless, such claims come from the Iranian judicial system and lack any sort of independent verification.
What Is Known about His Case? – Hossein Pedaran Execution
According to Iran’s judicial system, Pedaran was sentenced to death based on his involvement in espionage-related crimes, and that this sentence was confirmed by the Supreme Court before his execution.
Nevertheless, there is no independent information available about the proceedings. The Iranian authorities have not made public the entire verdict or the name of the trial court in the case. In addition to this, according to a report in Iran International, even the date of arrest and execution was not revealed by the Iranian judicial system.

In May 2025, the Iranian government carried out the death penalty against Pedram Madani, an Iranian man who was found guilty of espionage on behalf of Israel. In this instance, the charge against Pedram Madani was that he visited Israel and met with the Mossad operatives.
The man executed on September 19, 2026, is reported to be Hossein Pedaran.
