After the end of era of President Bashar al-Assad by Islamist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham in Syria, this nation is facing many changes, difficulties to rebuild itself under new leadership of Abu Mohammad al-Jolani. 

This power shift in the nation Syrian has increased risks of humanitarian concerns. Recently after many news from Syria, the Curriculam change sparked controvery. Islamic-led Syrian government changed education system from the first primary to the third secondary grades.There are concerns about the promoting Islam. Analysts are indicating that these amendments in Syria are Islamist agenda, it can hit on the  secular education system of Syria. Minorities are not safe here.

Political and Diplomatic Developments in Syria

After the fall of the Assad regime in Syria many other Arab states like Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Qatar are actively engaging with new leadership in Syria to build a new relationship. They are providing humanitarian and energy aid to gain influence and compete with Turkey and Iran. 

Reuters reported, On January 12, 2025 a Arab ministerial meeting took place in Riyadh. This meeting was attended by foreign ministers from 17 countries. The United States and Italy participated at the deputy foreign minister level. The discussions of the meeting was focused on supporting the Syrian people during this time. The leaders committed to provide assisting in rebuilding Syria as a unified, independent, and safe nation, free from terrorism and external breaches of sovereignty.

After this now, European Union foreign ministers are scheduled to meet in Brussels on January 27 to discuss the potential easing of sanctions imposed on Syria. 

Humanitarian Concerns and HTS’s Actions

Even with the political changes in Syria, there are many reports which is indicating the violence by HTS against Syrian civilians. This group HTS has a history of human rights violations such as unfair arrests, executions without trial, and silencing dissent, which puts the safety of people in danger. There are threats after the government of HTS to promote islamic agendas.HTS in Syria can be a challenge for the Middle East and the world because HTS was initially linked to Al-Qaeda

The humanitarian situation in Syria  is not at good. Millions of people are still displaced. They are in hope of aids and helps. Syrians need protection of human rights, opportunity of growth, and unbaised govenment. The recent development is showcasing the need of inclusive political transition that addresses the needs of the Syrian people.

World is closely monitor the Syria, organigations, western nations are urging for stability, peace, and equal opportunity for Syrians to start a new beginning! Recently Foreign Minister of Germany Annalena Baerbock and French diplomat Jean-Noel Barrot visited to Saydnaya prison of Syria to discuss about the devlopments in Syria after formation of new govenrment.
