It seems American Idol has been triggering a lot of controversy lately. From Iam Tongi getting called a ‘rigged’ winner of season 21 to accusations of judges not providing authentic feedback, the reality show has probably seen it all this time.

Moreover, Katy Perry was often criticized throughout the season’s run for one reason or another. And now, it seems the singer has had enough.

She is one of the judges on the show, along with Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. While the decision to bring a contestant forward to removing them is their unanimous move, Katy often received a major portion of the audience’s criticism.

The ‘Roar’ singer was even targeted for apparently misbehaving with the contestants, acting rude towards them, mom-shaming them, and not treating them fairly.

But certain new reports suggest Perry believes a lot of the criticism she received on the show was because of the producers.

According to DailyMail, she now wants to quit as a judge of American Idol as she feels the producers had thrown her under the bus by apparently showing her in bad light.

It all started when Perry learned that 25-year-old contestant Sara Beth Liebe was a mom of three children, and she apparently trolled her. Liebe quit the show a few episodes later and revealed she was shocked by the singer’s comment.

In another instance, Perry also received backlash for calling out contestant Nutsa Buzaladze’s outfit. She said, “Nutsa, every time you take the stage, it’s like you glitter bomb the stage. Listen, one thing that I would like to see from you is not one piece of glitter the next time.”

The audience booed her, while the other two judges on the show expressed complete surprise at their reaction. But interestingly, the singer didn’t seem to be fazed by the backlash.

It will be interesting to see if Katy Perry will choose to be a judge in American Idol season 22.
