Bollywood has a significant influence over this Middle East region. Most of the films that are made in India are made available in Saudi too. This is also the case of the Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu films.
The same is true for other countries such as UAE, Oman and Qatar too. Saudi Arabia has allowed Indian cinemas to open in their nation three years ago.
The Indian trend is so popular across the Middle-East that Bollywood films are among the very first to be released in these regions.
Red Sea International Film Festival
Bollywood has been a prominent presence in the ongoing Saudi Arabia’s prestigious International film festival known as the Red Sea Film Festival.
The second edition of Red Sea Film Festival kicked off with Jeddah on Friday, with an array of superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kajol, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapur, Akshay Kumar, and the music director AR Rahman making dazzling appearances on the red carpet. Rihtik Roshan along with Ranbir Kapur are also scheduled to be part of the event.
It’s important to note that Saudi prince of culture Prince Badr Bin Abdullah Bin Farhan was in India and had meetings with Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar.
While enjoying friendly commercial and diplomatic relations with India for many years, Saudi authorities now aim to develop mutually beneficial ties with India’s hugely successful Hindi movie industry.

Collaborations in the entertainment and cinema industries are likely to play a major role in the new era of cross-sectoral cooperation among Saudi Arabia and India as part of their strategic partnership.
As part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 social and economic reform program The government’s aim is to boost household spending on entertainment and culture in Saudi Arabia’s Kingdom between 2.9 percent to six percent.
In order to achieve this, the Kingdom is providing a lot of money for the local film industry in addition to opening numerous new cinemas, concert venues, sporting arenas, and leisure facilities all over the country.
Prince Badr Bin Abdullah Bin Farhan has declared that it is essential to carry on activities of the G20 cultural track during the presidency of India.
Prince Badr met with the Indian minister of state for culture Arjun Ram Meghwal on the fringes of the G20 cultural ministers ‘ meeting held in Indonesia in September.
The Indian minister praised the Kingdom’s efforts and its role in arranging the very first gathering of the Culture Ministers to be held in 2020, at the G20.
The summit discussed the expansion of cooperation in the field of culture between the two countries, which covers several areas of culture including film production, specifically together with State Film Education Institutes, significant Indian businesses, and working to empower and grow the sector of culture across both countries, as per reports.
