Former US Secretary of Commerce talks about current global problems

In an interview with journalist Maria Maalouf for The CAPITOL show, the former US Secretary of Commerce, Carlos Gutierrez, talked about current global problems.
Carlos Gutierrez, who served as the 35th U.S. Secretary of Commerce from 2005 to 2009, said that the popularity of the current president of the United States, Joe Biden, is very low at 39 per cent. He said that the November 4 election is going to be difficult for Biden.
He also talked about the US military aid to Ukraine in its war with Russia. According to Carlos, the US is supplying Ukraine with weapons to help them defend themselves, but in many cases, those weapons cannot hit Russia. He reportedly said, “When Ukrainians asked Biden for planes and he said we do not want a war. It gave Putin a lot of motivation.” He further said, “If they used American planes, would they bomb Russia? Putin believes this is his territory and he will defend it.”
During the interview, he also talked about Venezuela. He said that the US can pay for its energy policy as it is out of control. He reportedly said, “We are mad at OPEC (Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries), but we’re not mad at our regulations, we’re willing to go to Venezuela and say, Please give us oil, instead of producing it ourselves. Our energy policy is out of whack, and we’re gonna pay for it.”

He also said, “I give Liz Cheney, the U.S. representative for Wyoming’s at-large congressional district, credit for having the courage to come forward and say that former president of the US, Trump, is not a representative of the Republican Party. What happened to her was that she lost her job. I’m hoping that these people will be back, they were on the right side of history.” He said that Trump owns the Republican Party, so the Republicans kept silent about the riot of 6 January, which disrupted and delayed the Electoral College vote count.
He also said, “Iran is not a friendly country to the United States. It has also become difficult to revive the nuclear deal between the United States and Iran.”
According to him, the nuclear agreement gives Iran money to invest in nuclear energy. He said that according to US foreign policy, Iran and North Korea are the bad players. He further said that Iran limited its nuclear activities due to economic sanctions. He said that Colin Powell, former United States Secretary of State, also had similar opinions about Iran.
