Iran Regime Will Have To Prepare For Civil Upheaval Sooner

Iran

Iran IranA revolt and uprising are on the anvil. There is no way to of controlling this in Iran. Blame it on bad governance and bad practices, this is going to keep happening. But the governance is more to be blamed for this. Their arbitrary rules and lack of trust in the public, plus conventional thought of anything spoken against the government has only created more problems for them.

Two prominent filmmakers, Mohammed Rasoulof and Mostafa Al-Ahmad, were recently arrested and accused of “association with counterrevolution,” as well as “inflammation and disrupting the psychological security of society.” Many others have lost their lives to such claims earlier too.

There has also been the arrest of several high-profile figures, including Mostafa Tajzadeh, one of the best-known political reformists in Iran who served as the deputy interior minister during former President Mohammed Khatami’s administration. He was again, arrested by the regime itself. No one is safe and everyone is a suspect in Iran it seems.

The Iranian authorities have accused him of “a conspiracy to act against the country’s security” and he has been charged with “publishing falsehoods to disturb the public mind.” What Tajzadeh really did was that he had recently criticized Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who had been previously disqualified from running for the presidency by the regime’s Guardian Council.

It was first in 2017 and then in 2019 but the social uprising has been heating up. It had been deadened many times, but the intensity is on the rise. Nowadays, Iran’s hard-line President Ebrahim Raisi, (he is widely believed to be the cleric who will ultimately succeed Khamenei as supreme leader), has also been a target for criticism by government officials. Poverty, unemployment and inflation have reached record highs during his presidency. Even Mostafa Eghlima, a social worker expert for the Iranian government, recently warned about a potential revolt.

So, the writing is on the wall. As generations change and awareness increases, political upheaval is bound to happen. As Iranian regime continues to spend money on militia and war and not look at investing into its people, it’s a matter of time that the West would find an effective method counter the Iranian regime.

Political analyst believe that Western policymakers should support Iranian activists and civil society, as well as to make it clear that they support any effort by the Iranian people to push back against state repression and advocate for democracy.
