Saudi Arabia is now opening its airspace to all civilian airlines. The decision has been welcomed by US President Joe Biden, as he is scheduled to visit them today. This explains US national security adviser Jake Sullivan’s comment that this, “decision paves the way for a more integrated, stable, and secure Middle East region, which is vital for the security and prosperity of the United States and the American people, and for the security and prosperity of Israel.”

The development that also opens doors for flights from Israel is being seen as diplomatic efforts being made by the US to broker the movement. This will also mean shorter flights between Israel and Asia. This is something in earlier years had led to more travel time, expensive flights due to longer routes to be covered.

The official statement made by the Kingdom guarantees that the airspace has been opened keeping in mind international conventions that there should be no discrimination between flights of any nation. Hence, the inclusion of Israel and subsequently flights from across the world.
