Israel Bombs Beirut for First Time Since November Ceasefire

On Friday Israel began its first attack on southern Beirut areas since both nations signed an armistice to end their conflict last November. The Israel Defense Forces attacked Hezbollah drone stores inside Dahiyeh by issuing alerts to let residents evacuate.
According to Benjamin Netanyahu Israel executed its attack because Lebanon launched rockets at Israel from their territory. The Israeli Prime Minister declared his forces would strike everywhere in Lebanon to stop the minimal attacks on Israeli population areas. Israel will strike at all targets across Lebanon to shield the State of Israel.
Hezbollah claimed Israel falsely blamed them to maintain a presence in Lebanon when they had not launched the rocket attacks. Authorities in Lebanon closed schools near both the residential and commercial areas when they implemented this strike which happened close to multiple educational institutions.
The attack comes following growing tensions:
- Israeli forces have not left any area of their five established positions despite the deadline ending in February
- Israeli military operations led to six deaths in Lebanon through airstrikes one week ago.
- Since Hamas broke their ceasefire agreement with Israel in mid-March about 900 Palestinians have died in Gaza.
In a joint news conference French President Emmanuel Macron labeled the Beirut attack as wrong. Macron committed to discussing the topic with Netanyahu and Donald Trump because America holds leverage over Israel.
As a spokesperson for U.S. State Department Tammy Bruce pushed Lebanon to remove its terrorists quickly because Israel defends its people and country.
Hezbollah and Israeli forces fought openly last September which led to more than 4,000 Lebanese casualties and at least 60,000 Israelis needed to flee their homes until the November ceasefire took effect.
