Kuwait Airways CEO Removed Over Safety Failures

Kuwait Airways

Ahmad al-Kreebani, CEO of Kuwait Airways, had to be relieved from his duties after very serious concerns about safety compliance were raised by the civil aviation authority of the country. The company had been facing issues in meeting aviation safety standards and fixing the same time after time within deadlines.

A letter from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) addressed the airline’s board to disclose the reasons behind their decision. The letter maintained that Kreebani had persistently failed to observe aviation safety laws and had neglected to fix severe deficiencies within the stipulated time.

The termination was viewed as the tide starting to turn against Kuwait Airways, unable to maintain standards in operational safety and performance. The very fact of being a state-owned airline exposes the firm to public and regulatory view, especially in the international aviation market. The leadership change comes at a very sensitive time when global airlines are increasingly focused on raising safety standards and restoring travelers’ confidence after the pandemic. Observers want to see if the new CEO will be able to take Kuwait Airways back to the track.
