Leader of Lebanese Christian Bloc rallies populace against choosing pro-Hezbollah president
Sami Gemayel, the leader of the Lebanese Kataeb Party, has vowed to scuttle the presidential election if the other parties attempt to choose a leader who would shield Hezbollah’s weapons.
Gemayel, a ferocious opponent of Hezbollah, stated during the party’s general meeting on Friday that what was taking place was an attempt to alter Lebanon’s appearance.
Political figures opposed to Hezbollah were present at the general conference’s opening session and spoke against the party’s recent actions.
The Free Patriotic Movement and the Lebanese Forces Party are the two other major Christian parliamentary blocs, with Gemayel’s group coming in third.
They are attempting to wipe off democracy, freedom, cooperation, a robust and free economy, and Lebanon’s openness to the outside world, he claimed.
Gemayel further clarified that the conflict at hand was coexistence between Christians and Muslims rather than a particular group of Lebanese people.

He claimed that an armed group holding its sect hostage and attempting to turn the crisis in Lebanon into a sectarian one was behind any efforts to eradicate the Lebanese spirit.
Gemayel discussed shady land deals, changing demographics, institutional strangulation, and a deliberate campaign against independent media.
He declared: “Until we were standing hand in hand in Martyrs’ Square, we could not force the Syrian army to go. We must all come back together if we are to save Lebanon today.
Gemayel claimed that under the guise of defending Christians, the ruling elite gave the country to Hezbollah. He continued, “We have warned against turning the country over to Hezbollah.
