Lebanese Central Bank’s head says he would not run for reelection
Riad Salameh, the seasoned president of Lebanon’s central bank, said that he would not run for re-election after his most recent six-year tenure as head of the Banque du Liban.
Salameh told Asharq News, a Saudi Arabian news outlet, “My decision is that, at the end of the term, it will be a page I flipped in my life and I will move to work outside the central bank.” The mandate of Salameh will finish in July.

According to Lebanese political insiders, there is still no agreement on a successor for Salameh, who has been in office for three decades and continues to enjoy the support of some of the country’s most influential lawmakers, including House Speaker Nabih Berri.
