Morocco, Russia Expand Halal Trade with New Certification Deal

Morocco and Russia are intensifying economic cooperation under better halal certification agreements. Tatarstan’s Committee for Halal Standards is seeking accreditation in Morocco; they hope to use this to increase the amount of Russian halal products going to the North African markets.
“We filed applications and plan a progressive workup to year-end”, reported Abbas Shlyaposhnikov, Chairman of the Bank’s committee. We are progressing in this course with boldness.
Morocco is still building up its global halal presence. In the recent Halal Morroco Forum, IMANOR director Abderrahim Taibi raised attention to significant potential of Morocco and Africa in the $ 2+ trillion Halal Global market.
At the forum, Morocco was signing a recognition agreement with Singapore’s Halal Authority, a sequel to a 2020 agreement that made it possible to export Moroccan halals to Russia.
