Ken Block, a sports marketing executive who seized the wheel and became a renowned professional rally driver as well as YouTube stuntman, was killed in a snowmobile accident on Monday.
Block was 55 years old at the time of his death. The sheriff’s office in Wasatch County, Utah, and the company he co-founded, Hoonigan, verified his death.
Who Was Ken Block?
Mr. Block co-founded the action sports company DC Shoes in 1994. He sold the business in 2004 and switched to driving, swiftly being recognised as one of the faces of racing.
He placed second overall in 2006, 2008, and 2013 and was named the Rally America youngster of the year in 2005.
He was the first American to participate in the World Rally Championship and he also won 5 medals at the X Games from 2006 to 2013.

Death of Ken Block: How Did Ken Block Die?
According to a statement from the sheriff’s office, Mr. Block, a resident of Park City, Utah, was driving a snowmobile down a steep slope on Monday at around 2 pm “when the snowmobile turned upside down, landing on top of him.” At the scene, he was identified as deceased.
According to the sheriff’s office, he was traveling with a group but was by himself when the accident occurred. The cause of death will be determined by the state medical examiner’s office.
Ken was “a visionary, a pioneer, and an icon,” according to a statement from Hoonigan. And most importantly, a husband and a parent. Extremely, he will be missed.
Why Was Ken Block Famous?
After selling DC Shoes, the skateboard company he co-founded in Huntington Beach thirty years earlier, Block swiftly became one of the sport’s most recognisable figures.
He won five medals at the X Games for RallyCross, won Rally America rookie of the year in 2005, and placed second three times overall. Additionally, he was the first American to participate in a World Rally Championship rally.
