Etihad Stadium was on fire yesterday as its home team welcomed West Ham United to give a stunning show of hospitality by clinching the title of the EPL for the 4th time by making it 3-1 in the scoreline. 

Creating the storm in the field by attacking from all fronts by putting in the formation of 4-2-3-1,Pep Guardiola’s  Man City was charged up against West Ham who put up a somewhat balanced formation of 3-4-3. 

Some of the key moments of the match are as follows;

  1. Within 2 minutes after Kick off, Man City’s magic boy Phil Foden made it 1-0 for his  team. West Ham’s Mavropanos fails to clear the ball that makes Haland have a touch at it and pass on to De Bruyne, who taps it to Silva who comes up flanking on the right. Silva gets the ball to Foden who arrives in the penalty box at the right time, and shoots it into the net.
  1. The next big moment comes in the 15th minute of the game when Jeremy Docu of City curls back into the penalty area after coming up from the left wing to shoot into the goal but is denied to go on the scorecard as Areola puts a hand to the ball and away it goes up the crossbar towards the stands. A definite brilliant save by the West Ham’s Goalkeeper.
  1. The save didnt send a relief to the away team as the next minute saw City’s De Bruyne rolling it up to Rodri who got inside the penalty box to tap it into the goalpost but saw the ball passing away from it. Definitely a spine chilling moment for United’s fans.
  1. The 18th minute saw Phil Foden double his stats in the scorecard with the help of an assist by Jeremy Docu as the English Midfielder shot the ball past Areola despite being surrounded by 3 defenders of West Ham. Scoreline 2-0 in favour of City.
  1. 6 minutes after making it 2-0, City again stormed up to make an attack with help of Silva giving a cross to the far post for Dias who was running into the D, making an acrobatic sliding pass across the face of the goal. Haaland out of nowhere comes in and jumps up in the air to make contact with the ball with a flying scissor kick to send the ball past West Ham’s Goalkeeper but completely misses it. Another jaw dropping moment in the stadium.
  1. Mohammed Kudus scores a blinder by sending it into the net with the help of an overhead bicycle kick making it easier for West Ham fans to breathe a little easier. Scoreline 2-1.
  1. The referee blows the half time whistle and both teams head to the dugout. The match starts again with Pep’s team taking possession. 14 minutes past halftime, Midfielder Rodri scores for City to take it to 3-1 in spite of West Ham putting its best defence on show. The home spectators are overjoyed in contrast to the disheartened ones sitting at the other side of the stands.
  1. 89th minute and a goal by West Ham’s Soucek. Well no, says the referee after close inspection after a VAR check. To the dismay of the away supporters, it still remains 3-1 at the scoreline due to a hand ball, says the commentator from the commentary box. In the sixth minute of 90 plus stoppage time, Foden is substituted and its full time, the match ends. Manchester City are champions of the English Premier League for the fourth consecutive time, a feat no other teams have been able to achieve till date. Pep and his boys have again shown his class.
