Turkiye makes it among the top 10 countries for international students

The Ministry of Trade has made the official announcement, indicating that Turkiye has made it into the list of the world’s top 10 countries for international students. This opportunity came after years of steady increase in numbers and international promotion of education.
- 337,119 students came from abroad and began their studies in Türkiye in the academic year of 2024–25.
- The share of Türkiye in global student mobility grew from 2.9% in 2020 to 3.5%.
- Indicatively, only 5,000 foreign students were accepted in 2002, and the number grew to 31,170 by 2012.
- Now, the students come from 180 countries, a huge rise from 154 countries in 2012.
- With education service exports of $2.865 billion in 2024, 15 times more than in 2012.
- Support to the education sector, on the other hand, grew twofold, reaching TL 162.7 billion ($4.19 billion) last year.
The Ministry also supported the fairs that took place in the United States, France, Iraq, Kazakhstan, and Germany under the brand “Study in Turkiye.”
Seven Turkish education brands received global support via the Turquality Program.
The ministry said that it would continue its support towards universities and education exports via fairs, workshops, and financial incentives throughout 2025.
